Our Mission

At Scent & Senses, we're passionate about exploring the powerful connection between scents and human wellbeing. Founded in 2019 by a team of aromatherapy enthusiasts with backgrounds in neuroscience, chemistry, and holistic health, our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional aromatherapy practices and modern scientific research.

Based in Warsaw, Poland, we combine Eastern European aromatherapy traditions with contemporary research to provide evidence-based information about how different scents affect mood, cognition, and overall wellness. Our goal is to empower readers with knowledge that allows them to make informed choices about incorporating aromatherapy into their daily lives.

Our Approach

What sets Scent & Senses apart is our commitment to scientific accuracy without losing sight of aromatherapy's holistic roots. Each article we publish undergoes rigorous fact-checking and draws from peer-reviewed research whenever possible.

We believe that understanding the "why" behind aromatherapy's effects—the neurological pathways, chemical interactions, and psychological mechanisms—enhances appreciation for this ancient practice and enables more effective application in modern contexts.

Through our blog, workshops, and research collaborations with universities across Poland, we strive to advance public understanding of how scents influence our daily experiences and how we can harness their power for better living.

Our Research

Beyond publishing educational content, Scent & Senses actively contributes to the scientific understanding of aromatherapy through several research initiatives:

  • Aromatherapy and Cognitive Performance Study
In collaboration with the University of Warsaw's Psychology Department, we're investigating how specific essential oil compounds affect attention, memory, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Traditional Polish Aromatherapy Documentation Project
We're working with ethnobotanists to document traditional Polish aromatic plant uses before this valuable knowledge is lost to time.
  • Workplace Wellbeing Initiative
Our ongoing study with several Warsaw-based companies is measuring the impact of strategically implemented aromatherapy on workplace stress, productivity, and employee satisfaction.

Through these research efforts, we hope to contribute meaningful data to the growing body of evidence supporting aromatherapy's benefits while helping to establish best practices for its application in various contexts.
